EMS 151 - Introduction to Advanced Life Support Credits: 4
Prepares the student for Virginia Enhanced certification eligibility and begins the sequence for National Registry Intermediate and/or Paramedic certification. Includes the theory and application of the following: foundations, human systems, pharmacology, overview of shock, venous access, airway management, patient assessment, respiratory emergencies, allergic reaction, and assessment based management. Conforms to the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services curriculum.
Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 5 hours per week. Prerequisites: ENF 1 or ENF 2 , MTT 0 - Module 1 Operations With Positive Fractions and MTT 0 - Module 2 Operations With Positive Decimals and Percents , EMT Certification. Co- requisite: EMS 170 - ALS Internship I .
